Checkers is a classic two-player strategy game. Each player starts with 12 checkers, placed on the dark squares of the three rows closest to them. The board consists of alternating light and dark squares on an 8×8 grid.
Setup:
One player takes the dark-colored checkers (usually red), and the other takes the light-colored checkers (often white).
Players sit on opposite sides.
